Call for workshops
We invite proposals for workshops and tutorials to be held during the fNIRS UK 2025 Conference on 18th September 2025. Proposed events should focus on hands-on learning experiences or educational tutorials designed to equip attendees with practical skills related to fNIRS. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to, fNIRS data acquisition, data processing, experimental design, practical training with specific toolboxes, software, pipelines, and novel methodological approaches. We also welcome proposals from industry partners, though all workshops must be led by an academic.

Proposal format and content
- Format: Single-column PDF document, 4 pages maximum
- Title of the workshop
- Organisers' information (at least one academic): Names, affiliations, addresses, email addresses, and website of the organisers.
- Duration: Specify duration (e.g., 2 hours - the maximum is 4 h)
- Short description (200 words maximum): Provide a concise and engaging summary suitable for advertising on the fNIRS UK 2025 website.
- Detailed event description: Clearly describe the content, objectives, and structure of your workshop/tutorial. Outline how the session will ensure high-quality content delivery, foster interaction, and engage attendees.
- Relevance and novelty: Briefly explain the significance of the proposed topic, how it aligns with the fNIRS UK conference themes, its novelty, and expected impact on the fNIRS community.
- Format and activities: Provide a detailed breakdown of the session's format including timings for each activity.
- Intended audience: State who will benefit from attending, if there are any skills requirements, specify the skills or knowledge participants will gain, and justify the importance of these skills within the fNIRS field.
- Support and technical requirements: Specify the required equipment (e.g., computers, screens, projectors). Clearly outline space requirements, maximum number of participants. Mention any software or tools participants should install beforehand or any equipment they need to bring (e.g., laptops). Please indicate if you agree for the content to be recorded or shared online.
- Mitigation strategy (plan B): Describe clearly your contingency plans in case of technical issues or unexpected difficulties to ensure a smooth experience for participants.

Evaluation criteria
Proposals will be assessed by the workshop committee based on the clarity and quality of the provided information, the relevance and novelty of the topic, and the potential for creating an engaging and intellectually stimulating environment aligned with fNIRS UK 2025.
